It is the development of a combination of the academics, the technical/vocational skills and these core values in students that will enable them to become productive members of the society ;thus, helping to make Jamaica a better place to live, work and raise families.
I therefore, invite all stakeholders-students, parents, past students, the community of Lawrence Tavern and its environs to assist in enabling Oberlin High School to continue on the path of excellence .
There are times when parents/guardians and students have matters of concern which need to be discussed with the school. Outlined below is the channel through which matters may be aired. As far as is possible, try to adhere to the flow outlined.However, in cases of emergency, it may be necessary to by-pass this format.
The Student Union provides students with an opportunity to be actively involved in the affairs of the school. Ultimately, this is of benefit to the entire school. Advocacy is a key factor as it relates to the council, they assists in creating a positive school environment, allows for the inclusiveness of student views for ensuring the highest standards of education, represent students’ views and is a forum for students’ concerns to be addressed. It should bring the views and concerns of students forward to the school administration and teachers in a diplomatic way.
The goal of the student Union is to ensure that students are well represented at all times. To have a body that is well active, dedicated and enthused towards building a stronger student body and to ensure that students’ interest and views are taken by heart.
School rules are quite important because they are made for the safety and welfare of the students in school. They are mainly used to promote good behaviour among students and to maintain the good image of the school. Following the school's rules is extremely important for students in school. When students follow school rules it can lead to their staying safe and focused. When students stay focused they will most likely maximize on their educational opportunities.
School rules are important to maintain discipline. School rules play an important role in ensuring that the students know how to behave and the consequences of misbehaving. School rules are a useful guide to prevent any unwanted punishments and embarrassments.
